Dear Reader--
I'm planning to steer clear of political entries on this here blog/journal (for the most part). Today, however, I just want to ask the question: where are we going? As a country... does this feel like the right direction?
A woman was shot in her vehicle by an ICE agent in Minneapolis today. Some say she was fleeing. Some say she was trying to run the agent over. Even if it was the latter, why do federal agents draw their weapons so freely? From the clips I saw, the agent was able to jump out of the way. Why fire your weapon? I'm sure the agent, and his fellow agents that were with him, could have found another way to handle the situation. Aren't the weapons a last resort? Instead, the driver is dead and we have half of the country yelling "it was self-defense" and "she got what she deserved" while the other half is yelling "ICE is the Gestapo".
I don't think this feels like we're going in the right direction.
