To be the road

In the beginning it was hard. Then it become painful. When I got to the top of a hill I could barely breathe. Finally warmed up I could pick up my pace and try to stick to it. Today is not a day when I can turn home, as I usually do here. Today I'll go farther. It is unknown yet how much time it'll take. Just enough. I have no idea what the path will be. Should I go left or right now? Today is the day to decide.

They appeared from behind. Group of three. Faster than me. Going steady. Talking. One of them said: "Hallo", - passing me by. They are strong. Doesn't matter. Each of us is on one's own route. We kept running.  Should I use it as a chance? It looked like they knew where they were going. Fine, let's see if I can stay around for a while. I went faster to catch up.

How much was it? I didn't count. What I could see is that he got tired. This guy who said: "Hallo". I could feel his struggle. And, yes, they knew where they were going for sure. That was a good decision to stay around. Place was amazing! Lonely trail in the middle of the forest. The only problem is that it was going in circles. I hate going in circles. But I'll take one more. Just to see how it goes. The last one. And then I'll jump back to my own route to see where it ends for me. For me alone. When I was almost ready to step out of the trail he stopped. This guy. He could not run anymore. That's a pity. But it happens.

I could see a field of grass until the horizon itself. This trail made me forget about pain. It was not painful anymore. I could keep going forever. So, which one to choose? Left or right? Doesn't matter if movement keeps flowing.

It got wet. I got wet. It got cold. I got cold. It got all slippery. But I was out there. I immersed. I've seen the first lightning of this year as it hit the ground. I heard thunder followed. It was rainy. But I was a part of the rain, so why bother? A kid on the other side of a street cries. Why do you cry, kid? It's just a rain. We are inside. It'll pass. Leaving you better than you were. But it is cold I should admit. So, I'll go faster. Music. Drops of water all around. Steps. Heavy breathing. In the end my road was longer than this rain too. It could not go anymore.  It stopped. That's a pity. But it happens. I kept going.

The feeling of home was great. Hot shower. Food which was prepared in advance. Smart guy, huh? Black tea. Nice. We are built to be out there. Crushing it. I did my part. So I deserved this. I'll enjoy it. I'll rest. And  then I'll go out again. Because this is what I was born for. Not to stay in comfort, but to be out there. To be the sun. To be the rain. To be the road.
