Writing is cheap, because it saves you money

Among many other skills I praise writing the most. In my opinion, people around are not spending nearly enough time writing down their thoughts. Doing that is hard. And it takes quite some time if you are not used to it. As a result, writing seems like something you can’t really afford. Which is all wrong, of course, because laying out your ideas in paper saves you a lot of time iterating on them otherwise.

When you finally start writing more or less frequently it becomes easy to notice how your own voice speaks to you via marketing stamps and jingles. That happens because there are a lot of crappy texts around us which we consume and fill our minds with. All of those “exciting” announcements which everyone around are “thrilled” and “happy to share”. Our eyes are almost trained to skip such stuff and jump over it without even boggling. Manipulative, fake and empty style of communication somehow got labeled as professional, so people use it to hide the lack of meaningful ideas in their texts. Run. Hide. Dodge. Fight. Do whatever you want - it is just everywhere. So, building your own style and saying what you actually mean is kinda almost scary. What if without all of those whistles you come across as too naive and simple to be interesting?

Well, if you wish to get away from plastic tips and tricks in your writing, try listening to people doing something really unique and different. Read their texts. Internalize them. Break them down. Use them for inspiration. Then practice. And here is the best person you can start this journey from - Jason Fried: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDOeqjQbUcU. Good luck!
