The advice my grandfather gave me most frequently was "keep your back straight."
My initial reaction: "that's kind of strange and unexpected."
But then I thought about it some more… there are a few ways to think about posture.
There's having an upright posture in terms of how you communicate — the kind that speaks with sincerity and honesty.
Then there's having an upright posture in terms of character — the kind that favors doing the right thing, being helpful and kind to others.
And then finally, there's the most conventional sense of an upright posture which is… literally having a straightened back.
In hindsight, his message was profoundly wise and straightforward:
Be a good human… and don't slouch. 🙂
