Books are the antidote to the negative side of Social Media.
Social media was born and all of us hopped on. It happened without us being educated about it’s impact personally and globally, and about how it would change the world. In some ways for the better but in a lot of ways not. It caught us unprepared.
The proliferation of advertisements, companies, anger and misinformation morphed social media. People verbally, emotionally and psychologically attacking each other became the next evolution of that, and it is problematic to humanity. It’s a crisis.
So many people spend every last minute of extra time that they have scrolling, and impulsively responding to nothingness. And often, not even extra time, but rather the time to be conducting personal responsibilities.
How I have prevented this in my life has been to limit what I’m registered to, to delete all apps from my iPhone, and only use social media on my Macintosh. That is a very instant and physical impediment to doom-scrolling. If we all do this the only angry ones will be social media companies. Remove it from your phone.
Replace social media time with time for reading books. I spend most of my time reading really good books, it is my favorite thing to do. Books expand our minds, and it is a medicine for our soul, medicine needed during this social media crisis.
If everyone’s souls are cured, we will cure humanity.
