HELP stop submetering! 8/27

Dear Roosevelt Landings Neighbor,

Our landlord has embarked on a treacherous journey to submeter our units prior to completing their insulation project. Until this project is completed and tested there is nothing that has changed the bills from as high as $1,4000 in one month that was reported in the past.  Only a minute amount of residents had shadow bills that were at or less than the rent roll-back that management set.

Management just announced that they'll be sending you a shadow bill for the "highest" monthly usage when in fact, they are sending you a shadow bill for the lowest. During the heat wave this summer, many tenants turned their air conditioners OFF because they were blowing hot air due to the poor retrofit of their through-the-wall air-conditioning sleeves.

The Roosevelt Landings Residents Association has joined with several additional developments that we're lumped-in with by the Public Service Commission. We are all on the application for sub-metering by the landlord. Together, we are a strong voice with the courts, and we are jointly undertaking legal action against the PSC and against the landlord.

Laws protect residents who enter litigation against a landlord from retaliation by that landlord. If you have not submitted an affirmation for fear of reprisal, be assured that your affirmation will help solve the sub-metering issue, and protect your interest at the same time.

If you have yet to sign your "Affirmation," please attend the meeting in the 12th floor lounge of 546 at 7 PM tomorrow night, August 27th. We need one affirmation per apartment, not many. Please have a resident who is 18 or older attend.

Yours in solidarity,
Joyce
