Dear Roosevelt Landings Neighbors:
Yesterday, Metergy made a feeble, failed attempt at railroading our residents into payment commitments. Because they have NO DIRECT CONTRACT with you to extort money from you, they are relying on intimidation tactics to do so.
They are so tone deaf to our residents, that they attempted to hold their meeting, which they clamed would be conducted "One-On-One" with approximately 200 residents, in a totally public space, a building lobby, with not even a single chair. Even after an attempt to move to a more appropriate location, which also failed, they decided to close the meeting down with no answers for the crowd.
They will be making another attempt.
Our residents have made it clear that they have no right to bill us. Unless you signed a document to give them that right, like the C&C Rider to your lease renewal, or a payment agreement, no such contract exists between you and Metergy. None-the-less, Metergy and C&C will continue their intimidation tactics by telling you we lost the battle and you have no choice, and by threatening to turn off your electricity... even with their brazen threat to do so with only 1 day's notice. Don't be fooled. Turning off your electricity is a long, regulated process.
Why are they behaving in this DRACONIAN way, and even ignoring the building's faulty wiring and heater danger to do so? They are attempting to increase their revenue stream by approximately $24MM each year by DOUBLE BILLING ELECTRRICITY!
We will continue to pound on the doors of justice until a judge with a brain, who can add 2 and 2, and recognize what is actually happening here, looks at our case and does the right thing. And we ask that you also pound on the doors of the legislators we elected to protect us.
For the next legal step, we need:
- Stories from folks who will suffer extreme, even life threatening harm, from L&M's submetering plan. For example: Do you or your family members need life support equipment that you cannot pay the electricity for? Do you have another life changing hardship? Has Metergy sent you threats to cut off your electricity? We need your information even if you signed their payment plan.
- Access to MEDIA!! If you know someone who writes or reports for a news service of any kind, we need that connection.
- Your support at an upcoming Manhattan rally. We will be announcing the date and time shortly.
- Original LAP LEASES. These leases have specific terms outlined that can help support everyone.
Please reply to cooperate with these requests as soon as possible.
Yours in solidarity,
Joyce
