Being in “Big Tech” for the last 11 years is really taking a toll on my passion for building software. The Big Tech bureaucracy and the bullshit is so obvious and cringeworthy. You’re on a team of 20 engineers (too many) under 7 layers of management (too many) while no decisions are made until the very last minute when the whole project blows up all while 2 of the engineers were yelling and screaming about it the entire time while no one listened. It’s so dumb.

And now with AI agents forcing us to become managers ourselves, I feel like I’m on the way out of here.

I know I’m not the only one.

What a shitty feeling this is.

I have a little fuel left in the tank and with that I’m going to try my own thing out. Not necessarily for money (although I hope I can at least pay a bill or two with the earnings) but just to go out with some fucking dignity.
