The New World of Software Development

PRs? Dead

Issues? Dead

Agile? Dead

Discussions? Very much alive.

Decision? Even more alive.

We're using agents to manage our GitHub Issues and Jira tickets now. We're using agents to write code now. We're using agents to open PRs now. We're using agents to review PRs now.

What's left? We still have lots of meetings. What the fuck is that all about?

Turns out we still have to talk with each other to figure out what we want to build. I think the process is now reduced to just making this decision. What do you want?

By the way, figuring out what to build has always been the most important part of all of this.

I'll admit I hated agents at the beginning. But I started using them to do all the shit I hate doing: dealing with Jira tickets, writing commit messages, reviewing PRs, searching through shitty documentation, searching through shitty code, ...

I do miss those moments of accomplishment where I built some feature that actually worked, by hand. Those were great moments.

But it it's also very cool that I can now pursue every one of my endless fountain of ideas instead of just dreaming about them.

Now if only these agents would stop writing obviously shitty systems-level code....they'll get there eventually.
