Yet

“I suck at this” doesn’t help.

“I can’t do this” doesn’t help.

“I’m not meant for this” doesn’t help.

“I’ve tried everything” doesn’t help.

“It’s easy for other people, but not for me” doesn’t help.

There are plenty of excuses and plenty of reasons. But...

In truth, no one was born with a conscious ability to do anything. Timeless painters aren’t born into it. Self-made entrepreneurs aren’t born into it. Michelin Star chefs aren’t born into it. These are not traits of any natural order. These are cultivated skills; one attempt after another to be better than the day before.

We all start from the same place, but at different times.

“I’m not good at this” and “I’m not good at this, yet” are entirely different.

“I can’t” and “I can’t, yet” are entirely different.

One says: this is and always will be. The other says: this is but will not always be.

I forget this fact quite often. I tell myself that today is always. But, that is a choice.

Today was tomorrow’s yesterday. And tomorrow is today’s next opportunity at better.
