I have always had the urge to write and blog. But I have never been diligent of either writing or sticking to a blogging platform. I have always jumped platforms - from my first custom PHP site hosted on my school's internal network to Google Sites to Wordpress to my latest "gig" - Github Pages, just to name a few. All these platforms, while great, usually distract us in the form of fancy plugins, themes, pages, git-ecosystem, updates, upgrades, just to name a few, from the main purpose - writing.
My newest endeavor, Github pages was fun at first, but hard to keep up! I had lost the motivation to write, mainly because of the amount of extra work it took to publish 1 post.
As Jason mentioned in one of his first HEY World post:

I didn't want any of that. I just wanted to write. It's amazing how complicated it remains — even in 2021 — just to get your simple thoughts down in text, on the web, at a permanent URL, for anyone in the world to see.
