From 3rd April 2023 I will be working part time hours in my job at IMPACT.
This was a deliberate decision made by me, and influenced by many factors that I'll go into more detail about in a future note (if you have questions, email me about them...it'll help me explain my decision).
What's relevant to this Deep Work blog is that I now have approximately 13 working days in the month, compared to an average of 21 for those working full-time.
I've created a clear boundary and constraint, and part of the idea behind this is that I'll not only make smarter choices about what I choose to work on, I'll be less inclined to procrastinate.
In other words, I'll do better work that's more valuable.
I'm about to step in to my first 90-minute focus period as a part-time worker, and I'll be starting work on a project that's probably going to take 3-months to complete.
I have about 4-minutes to set the conditions for the next 90-minutes.
No internet
No phone (it's out of reach)
No instagram
No Slack/Basecamp
No notifications
Timer set
Let's do it!
Chris.
