Before I get to the post, I want to send strength and hugs to all of you. ❤️ These are turbulent times and we need each other to get through them (along with some strong politicians to resist and stand up for us). 💪
This is a LONG focus post about our second set of pet sits so if that doesn't sound interesting, I would skip it. 👋
I posted about our first set of pet sits in June 2024 so this is an update. We are currently on our 29th sit and have 8 more planned for this year so it is working well for us. If you want to know more, we use TrustedHousesitters and we will be happy to share our experiences (good and bad).
July 2024 Boulder, Colorado 🐶
Steve and Kent took a trip to Ireland for golf and I stayed with Perry who only wanted to fetch until he got tired.
October 2024 Boulder, Colorado 🐶
We enjoyed time with Porter who also loved to fetch. He got to meet Walter (and Brad and Melissa) on a gorgeous walk around Wonderland Lake.
December 2024 - January 2025 Kinloch, New Zealand 🐶 🐶 😺
We spent a few weeks in this small village on Lake Taupo on the North Island.
We had a wonderful time with Mac, Richie McCaw (named for a former All Blacks team captain), and Milla. I felt like I should have had an agenda ready for this meeting.
Mac was very photogenic and Richie never did tell me what happened to his ear.
Milla was happy with one ball but two was better.
Mac's very cute and sweet half brother Buddy lived across the street.
They loved to play ...
... and chill.
I am not supposed to have a favorite but just look at that face!
March 2025 Christchurch (Governors Bay), New Zealand 😺 😺
We spent 3 weeks in Governors Bay on the South Island with Hammy and Lucy. However, they preferred to be outside so we didn't see much of them.
April 2025 Whanganui, New Zealand 😺
We spent 20 days with Raggy, a gorgeous Ragdoll cat in Whanganui on the South Island. He had a very sweet and gentle disposition but did like to wake us about at 5:30am every day.
May 2025 Boulder, Colorado 😺 😺
We spent 2.5 weeks in the beautiful Boulder springtime with Violet and Fiona (!). Violet was very talkative and playful while Fiona was more chill (unlike other another Fiona we know).
May 2025 Omaha, Nebraska 😺 😺 😺
We spent a few weeks in Omaha and this business always had a funny sign.
Lucy, Madison, and Stella were all special cats with their own personalities. Stella (right) was so loud for such a small cat. The 2am howling was a bit much. Madison (middle) had been hit by a car as a kitten so walked like an old boxer but she got around just fine. Lucy (left) was happy to lay on a bed under a comforter most of the time. However, we learned that three indoor cats is too many for us.
June 2025 Boulder, Colorado 🐶 😺
We stayed with Zoe (dog) and Herbie (cat) for a few weeks during the summer. Their home was just across the street from the Wonderland Lake trailhead so we enjoyed that daily.
Zoe also got to meet Walter (and Brad) on a gorgeous day.
June - August 2025 London, England 🐶
I have already made two posts about Louie but am including him here too. We stayed for 41 days and had a great time with him and exploring the London boroughs in the summertime.
We drove southeast to Kent to sit with Monty, our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He was adorable but liked to eat bird feathers. Weird.
We drove him to Dover to see the White Cliffs.
I encouraged him to make this his profile pic but not sure what he decided.
August - September 2025 Somerset, England 🐶 🐶
We drove west from Kent to Somerset spend a few weeks with Lara and Alfie in the small hamlet of Pylle.
The home was a 500 year old stone structure with a walled yard which was very convenient for playing with the dogs.
They were our first Welsh Springer Spaniels and we enjoyed getting to know them. Alfie was the elder statesman while Lara was the energetic lovebug.
We had a wonderful time and look forward to sitting with them again in August 2026.
September 2025 Boulder, Colorado 🐶 🐶
We made it back to Boulder for a backyard concert (thanks Krista and Brad!) and sat with two Australian Cattle Dogs named Mochi and Oskar.
They were very well trained and we had a good time with them.
December 2025 Boulder, Colorado 🐶
Our final sit in 2025 was with Ozzie who was lots of fun. The weather was unseasonably warm (warmest Christmas Day on record).
We had a nice walk with Heidi (and Kent and Susan).
Finally got some snow so a jacket was required.
It snowed again the day we left for New Zealand (January 10th) so we got a good show on the way out of town.
We have learned a lot while pet sitting and enjoyed getting to know so many lovely animals. They really do make the world a better place and sometimes I don't think we deserve them. They say 'touch grass' to get reconnected with reality but I say 'pat a pet' for an even better experience. 😀
