Three good knots to learn. And when tied properly are strong and secure.
1. Double Surgeon's Loop Knot
Used to tie a loop at the butt section/end of a tapered leader. Now, you can make a loop to loop connection to the fly line.
2. Double Surgeon's Knot
Used for adding tippet to the tippet section/end of a tapered leader.
3. Improved Clinch Knot
Used for tying a fly to the tippet section/end of a tapered leader.
Practice tying these three knots before you hit the river. It will make for a better day of fly fishing. This is especially true, when you need to tie one of those knots to keep on fishing. Also, remember to moisten all knots before tightening.
