EdWeek recently published an article titled "Teachers hate all those meetings. Can principals find a workaround?" I was excited to see this headline pop up in my feed. How we collaborate and communicate effectively is rarely a topic. After reading the article though I was left disappointed. Work faster and stay on task isn't really an answer. We do that for everything.
I suggest that we focus less on distilling our meeting times, and start communicating asynchronously and organize ourselves around projects to make sure that the work isn't reliant on being physically in the same space or time. We need tools and systems that allow for the work to continue throughout the week, and to continue forward when and where the connections are made when the inspiration strikes.
