Funny story about Darius “Hootie” Rucker with is in the BP Oil Spill
In 2010, I was building up my team for the BP Oil Spill Project.
I needed a Logistics Director because the administrative needs were intense.
A friend introduced me to an individual named Todd.
We met for dinner outside of Atlanta and as I approached the table I was struck by the incredible uncanny resemblance to Hootie.
After I ignored the obvious we had our interview and he ended up coming aboard.
He was stationed in Mobile at command.
Throughout our 17 months there, the sheer number of times that in public, at restaurants and in meetings with others that it was a huge spectacle are countless.
People offering free meals, asking for autographs and approaching to ask about their favorite song.
To us, it was hilarious. To him is was quite annoying.
His name became Hootie by all. It could not be anything else.
It was quite a riot.
This summarizes a point many of us that lived that disaster life repeat often.
We can’t all remember where we were and much about the job, but we always hold onto who we did it with and the stories.
People like people.
Cheers to Hootie
