Kintsugi

IMG_7424.JPG

Kintsugi. The ancient Japanese art and tradition of golden joinery.
The art is to see a cup as important. When it breaks, you honor it by putting it back together painstakingly piece by piece.  Gold is used as the bond.

Once reset and hardened, you once again have a useable cup. But now it’s beautiful, highly sought after and incredibly unique.

This translates to people. We are all broken. Maybe some aren’t shattered, but all are worthy of Kintsugi.

We may see a broken cup and think of getting a new one, but a new one doesn’t have the stories, history, and essence. You would need to start all over with a boring cup.

Don’t self harm and rush to be broken. But maybe don’t think all is lost if you come apart.

Find that gold and rebuild.

Someone’s hell is someone’s well.
