Marker 30: Stop Asking People to “Buy In.”

If you’re always selling your vision, you may have built it alone.

Buy-In Is Fragile. Ownership Is Fierce.

Do you know the difference?:

  • Buy-in requires persuasion
  • Ownership creates alignment
  • Buy-in says “you did this”
  • Ownership says “we’re doing this”

If your team just nods along in meetings and ghosts the follow-through?
That’s buy-in. And it’s weak. Many of the accountability issues can be tied to this.

Build Systems With Them....Not For Them

Involve your team in:

  • Process creation
  • Client experience decisions
  • Field solutions
  • Culture standards

You’ll get better ideas.
Stronger commitment.
And way less ghosting.
