What happens when people do unexpected things?
Many things occur.
When an individual strays from their normal activity and actually breaks through to an area others are not familiar with, that is met with a multitude of responses. I have been finding this interesting.
Let me explain.
June 3, I released what would be my second book.
The first was a collection of my life and business guiding principles called 41 Markers. This was enlightening and powerful for many many that read it. I give away far more books than I sell. Most authors (outside of Stephen King, Danielle Steele and JK Rowling of of course) will tell you a book is more a passion, a business card and maybe an expression. So you happily give them away, regardless of the cost. Givers continue to give.
A Fork In The Road is a fable that took many many years and rewrites and tons of courage to publish.
I am super proud of the work and love the supportive reviews that have poured in. The goal of the book was to openly recognize a specific issue, using fictional characters, so that the reader would not feel targeted. The book was also crafted to provide hope and encourage those that might relate, to keep going.
Jack Carter, the protagonist, is a small business owner. An owner of an indenpendent restoration disaster company (something I know a little about) who is a hard working, proud and determined man. But he is caught in the trap that while he is a great operator, he end up feeling like he might not be a great business owner.
This is the classic WRT-CEO journey we designed R[OS]™️ (Restoration Operating System) for at Restoration Advisers .
I do work hard to keep this book non promotional and lay out the inspiring tale for those that read it to open up to the idea from help.
Jack does just that and gets help from a host of other deep characters ( who will be in future series books). Ethan, the peer, and Sam, a mentor.
He is presented with an utterly simple and uplifting set of options and grants himself the gift of better for himself, his family and his team.
This book has been, in its first week, called "E-myth" like. Not surprising because we love that book and have recommended and gifted over 100 copies.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed I would have written a book that people chose to purchase over be given free. People actually like to support effort. People also know that those that pay, pay attention.
