Outsized Ambitions. Undersized Bank Accounts.

Simon Sinek nailed it: small companies are the most innovative by far.

Why? Because they have to be.

They’re not shackled by the sludge of committees, compliance teams, or C-suite ego wars.
They’ve got hunger and fear. Two ignitable ingredients that, when mixed just right, turn into unmatched creativity and insane grit.

Especially in restoration. Especially for US.
This has almost always been my experience after all.

Small shops have to figure out how to do $10K worth of work with $4K worth of tools and two techs who are half-trained but all heart.

They’ve got to outmaneuver giants, who show up late, lowball contracts, and coast on logos, by building deeper trust and hitting harder with every single job.

Let’s talk about that “laughable” part.

You ever had an idea so big it made people smirk? Yea, me too.
This month actually !

You tell a buddy you’re gonna grow a $3M business out of your garage, and they nod the way someone does when a kid says they’re gonna be an astronaut.

That’s the world a lot of Restopreneurs™️  live in.
Delusional.

Outsiders don’t see the mountain of invoices you float until payment shows up.

They don’t see you repairing the truck at 11pm after the last call of the day. Or worse, not repairing at all, hoping it lasts until storm season.

They don’t know how many times you’ve nearly missed payroll, or how you talk to God when you’re standing in wet drywall wondering if it’s all worth it.

And still—you dream bigger.

You see a future where your company isn’t just a job.

It’s a force.  It's Yours.
A place where people grow.
A reputation that wins without the lowest bid.

The ambition outpaces the resources. All. Day. Long.

But that’s the point.
That’s where innovation lives.
That’s where momentum is built—scrappy, duct-taped, and full of scars.

So yeah, the odds are stacked.
The industry’s consolidating.
The carriers are pushing.
And the market’s weird.

But I’d still bet on the hungry.
I’d still bet on the guy or gal with a van, a vision, and a reason to burn the ships.

That’s where the real breakthroughs happen.

See you soon,
K
