The voice inside my big ole head tells me everyone had a "favorite hoody"
I do and I tell myself when I'm wearing it, I do my best work.
Before we do down that abyss, I'd like to talk about the term "best work".
It's not what sells the most, gets the most likes, shared 1000's of time or anything as arbitrary as that.
Your best work is work or things that make you feel the best.
So many humans never ever give themselves permission to do what makes them happiest.
It's possible the thing you like doing the most, scares you.
The things that fire you up, make you tell yourself people wouldn't understand.
Doing meaningful work often isn't the exact think you have labeled yourself with.
Musicians (even bad ones) have an internal fire that is extricating when not extinguished by the harmonic assembly of almost imperceivable wavelengths. Hertz and Mega-hertz that cause reactions in different people.
I've learned to like writing in the last few years.
1. It helps me process what I'm thinking and exfoliates and idea. It creates more
Ideas, different perspectives and most often, turn to action.
2. It's eternal. Whatever I'm writing, in whatever medium, lives forever. Or at least has the potential to be found.
3. Not everything I write is ever posted or published publically.
Some lives in journals, some on my IPad and some inside of an app. Scrivener is the program I'm currently using to write a few books.
But when we talk about "best work", the part that gets us hung up....is best.
There is no best and it's really a word that occupies space in a dictionary. I think best is an opinion and cannot be galvanized. I also think things get better. Sometimes daily.
So best can also be temporary.
But BEST for me is my best, at that moment. The best I can do in my abilities or in my mental state.
I'm writing more and have a few things that I will soon possibly be publishing.
They won't be the best to everyone. Maybe anyone.
Some may smile and enjoy for a perspective (my biggest goal). So might see it pointless and curious why I've done it.
I can't be swayed by either.
1. Ego creeps in when you let polite accolades to marinate in your brain. Let accolades be feedback. Ways to decifer how readers receive.
2. Not doing something that makes me move ahead because some don't like it is pure silliness.
Not all books are bought and read. Not all music is streamed and enjoyed.
But for those moments when they are discovered and cause a stir....you have connected like you could never do with what you sell or promote.
People hate being sold to. Most people anyway.
So keep an eye out or ignore. It's purely your choice and I would probably never know.
FAVORITE HOODY
You might think I forgot that, but I didn't. I never forget it.
It's not always hoody weather but as soon as it's dipping below 70, I pull mine out.
It's a charcoal gray, size 3XL Carhartt Cotton Hoody.
Certainly not fancy or logo'ed with my favorite team.
It's heavy cotton and made well. Well enough that being 5-6 years old, and 100's of washes, you would expect some wear. But it's durable. And that's something I value.
A person
A vehicle
A plan
A partnership.
Durable things last. Even with wear and rough work. They don't elicit alot of attention, but they are dependable and help you.......
do your best work. (Yea, we came full circle)
I feel safe and secure in my hoody. And who doesn't flourish in that.
Simply reply if you have a favorite hoody and tell me what your best work is when you wear it.
If you want to subscribe or share this, please do.
Maybe someone else likes reading people's thoughts.
I do.
Cheers,
Klark
