Dear Friend & Fellow Creator,
One of the biggest traps I fell into as a new Creator was the rabbit-hole of analytics.
Every platform will gladly show you analytics that are "important." They'll highlight certain numbers, so you're constantly aware of performance. Creating content turns into a game of improving the numbers.
Don't fall for it.
For the longest time on YouTube, I would obsess over real time analytics after publishing a new video.
This was a waste of time.
When starting out, the only people looking at your work are friends and family. Your sample size for data is too small to illustrate anything meaningful.
Sure, you may learn a few tidbits of information.
But at what cost? Sacrificing your mental health?
Instead of analyzing data to make decisions about future content, trust your gut.
Shipping consistent content is a process that needs to be fun. Yes, looking at the numbers will be important to improve certain elements of your craft. However, if your gut is telling you to create something, do it!
Our intuition is our most powerful compass.
When data lead us down the wrong path, it can be very frustrating. But when we follow a feeling that just feels right, nothing can come in the way of that. Following ideas out of curiosity and intuition leads to a feeling of satisfaction regardless of the outcome.
When a decision needs to be made, trust your intuition over the data.
Best,
Maneetpaul Singh
