A book I just read that should be widely appreciated.

The book is Utopia for Realists and it points out that we can have a relative "utopia" (he's not kidding about this and I am not either. He makes two excellent points:

(1) Instead of continuing to pay the monkeypuzzle list of welfare agencies and enforcement authorities, just give poor people the money directly, to solve homelessness and most poverty in one blow!

(2) The author also suggests that relatively open borders work better than our current system that came in in the wake of World war II.

I would not have a wide-open border; that would be mad. But I think we could set up a modern NAFTA ... with free movement for anyone from Mexico through the US and Canada who would submit to biometric authentication.
