So am I! But there is a (relatively) simple solution: Ranked Choice Voting ... it eliminates all the incentives that abound in the current system for gerrymandering, "strategic voting", running knowingly weaker candidates in one race to save more party resources for another race or races.
Ranked choice voting eliminates 95% or more of this cruft and allows the legislative bodies to get on with serving us constituents without all the horse puckey that so abounds in the current US system.
