Last month I finished my Instrument rating. I spent over a year in training, weeks of prep for the written and oral exams, rescheduled check-rides with plane maintenance, summer vacation in LA, etc… This rating was an absolute grind.
Last month I finished my Instrument rating. I spent over a year in training, weeks of prep for the written and oral exams, rescheduled check-rides with plane maintenance, summer vacation in LA, etc… This rating was an absolute grind.
I was so exhausted (just completely mentally and physically spent) when I got home that night I think I was ready for bed at 6pm! The next morning I woke up with a strange sense that I had nothing to do. Instead of feeling high from the accomplishment I almost felt lost.
I’ve found that having purpose and direction are the two most important things for happiness. I’ve known people (and am a bit jealous) who figured out their purpose in Kindergarten. For me, I’ve found the most satisfaction when I set out to do something new, work hard at it, and accomplish my goal.
I’m convinced it doesn’t matter what it is, or how long it takes, or how many tries you need. The pursuit of mastery is what matters in the long run.
Always be learning, always be growing, always be moving forward.
