I remember there was a time you’d have to hunt down the timing for when a movie would telecast on a channel. And you’d set aside time to watch it. It was on top of your mind. And you couldn’t watch it as and when you pleased. Inconvenience and anticipation forced you to set aside time and energy for it.
Here is a simple overlooked aspect of training, nutrition and sleep.
Do you care enough for the causes?
The way you care about not spending too much money.
The way you research a bike or car you are going to pick up.
The way you track your investments.
Or even the way you scrutinise a bill to split it among friends.
It’s fair to say you are more likely to act on things you actively think about. When I say actively think about it, I don’t mean stress out, fixate or obsess over. I mean a rather constructive conversation in one’s head about:
* How much you enjoyed a training session
*How you look forward to improving your squat
*How you’d like to try out throws
*How you’d like to make sure there’s a certain ingredient in your pantry
*How you’d like to use a certain ingredient in a dish
*How you’d like to schedule an interesting movie for the weekend and not lose sleep over it during a weekday ruining your workout.
Takeaway
How much you think about a certain habit or activity will directly impact how much time, attention and energy you set aside for it. Framing endeavours like training, eating and sleep with a little more nuance and care can help.
