Those are views from our gym floor of the big blue sea.

And it is quiet. Except for crows and the occasional car/truck/bike.

And we have a no music policy at our gym. So we are not a pollutant. Except for the sound of re-racking a bar and chatter during class hours.

But there are downsides to the location. We are invisible. There’s a reason commercial spaces pay top-rupee for Main Streets. The odds of people knowing you exist are much higher when they pass by your business everyday.

But we are OK with being invisible. In fact there are perks to it.

1. No din of traffic and much less dust. Madras is very dusty. But between dusty and dustier, I pick the former.
2. I have no data. But the odds of you falling in love with our space is higher when a friend tells you about us than when you accidentally bump into it. So organised appointments trumps serendipity for retention and conviction.
3. It’s much easier to cultivate a strong local catchment of committed clients who show up when you are closer to them. Your catchment area can grow. But removing friciton points to make people show up consistently is priceless.
4. Quiet is underrated when it comes to training. Especially in an unconventional setting such as ours with much light and sights.
