MediaMath was a DSP.
"MediaMath was"? It's hard to write that word. "Was" signifies a finality. A passing. A loss. Some bygone era.
There aren't enough words to describe what's transpired over the last 24+ hours. I've been struggling pinning down just exactly how I feel. I am first and foremost devastated for all those who lost their jobs, including many of my friends.
What's in the past is in the past. No more 45th floor of 4WTC, no more bidder troubleshooting, no more happy hours at Pier A.
But MediaMath was? No. The business might be gone, but MediaMath still is. MediaMath is the people that carry on its legacy throughout their professional career and all walks of life.
MediaMath is the brilliant ideas Mathletes continue to work on, collaborating with the brightest minds at their current employer. MediaMath is the person carrying the happy hour to just one more bar or karaoke nightcap because they're not quite ready to say goodbye to their friends. MediaMath is opening the door of opportunity for those who were overlooked because you see their potential. MediaMath is whiteboarding with your team about the next big thing that's going to change the company. MediaMath is the person brave enough to take their scrappy idea and start the next visionary company. MediaMath is rooting for your friends to succeed because you know they can solve the hardest problems thrown at them. MediaMath is staying late in the office with your teammate, ordering takeout and talking about your crazy ideas for how to make the company a better place. MediaMath is traveling to the office abroad and seeing that they too have as strong of a bond as the office you came from. MediaMath is hanging out with your colleagues on the weekend because you just didn't get enough of them, despite 40 hours in the office. MediaMath is your other friend group seeing how much fun you have with your coworkers and saying, "how do I get a job there?". MediaMath is turning to your colleague and saying "Thanks for the help. I couldn't have done it without you".
MediaMath is and has always been a truly remarkable place where the best people came together, produced magic and made lifelong friends. There's not another place where I wanted to start my career. I'm forever grateful.
Cheers to MediaMath. Now and always.
