I learned about myself around a decade ago that I wasn't founder material. I'm incapable of visualizing something from nothing, which is (to me) the defining talent necessary to be a founder.
However, I'm pretty good at helping a founder bring his vision to market.
Unfortunately, the World doesn't seem to care nearly as much as it should about this set of skills! The current thought leaders of this World would rather have 8 billion founders competing in a Battle Royale of underdeveloped products than valuing the blessing of our species' diverse set of skills. Our ability as humans to produce a few excellent products when we band together is what made us thrive over the environment.
Most founders I know can't take a product over the finish line by themselves. They see too much. They are far too fascinated by creating new things from the Void. They miss shaping the Ether whenever they're constrained by the mundane. When they hire people from my class, the non-founders, they hire an enabler of dreams, and a shaper of reality. He who sees this as a waste of talent or as someone leaving money on the table has left wisdom on the table, and money as well.
