A good life

Life is not a problem to be solved. Just remember to have something that keeps you busy doing what you love while being surrounded by the people who love you.
—Héctor García and Francesc Miralles, ‘Ikaigi’

I love the simplicity of this. Of course, simple doesn’t mean easy! Sometimes the simplest things to understand are the hardest to achieve. But as a framework to living a full and meaningful life, this a strong starting point.

Do things that you love. Spend time with people you love and who love you.

It’s easy to think your job has to be that thing that you love. It doesn’t. If it can be, great. But don’t depend on that for your enjoyment of life.

As long as there’s enough space for doing things that you do love, you’ll get that sense of fulfilment.

And, again, you don’t have to love your colleagues. If you do, great. If not, you’ll be fine – provided you make time and space for enjoying being with those who you do love and who love you.

Let’s bring it down to the every day though. What could we to today, this week, and this month to make more time for doing things we love to do? And for crafting moments to spend quality time with those we love?

Make it happen!
