October is fast approaching. Basically the last 3rd of 2021 is coming and I don’t feel any better to be honest.
Our family recently dealt with a Singapore stay at home notice due to my daughter being exposed to COVID by someone in class. The SHN is basically a mini-lockdown of sorts and was quite depressing. Kids missed school, wife couldn’t go out and daily testing.
Problem is this forces me to rethink going out even if Singapore is open since with cases now at the 1000 per day range, the chances of having the contact tracing kick into gear and forcing another SHN seem more possible than ever.
So we are open but not much to celebrate really.
Traveling is still basically restricted apart from a few places I don’t want to go to and we keep holding out that by year-end that potentially it just truly opens.
A few friends of mine have returned from places that are largely open, mask free and everyone going about their business. Do they know something we don’t or are they at risk?
Singapore is just a tough place to be right now but on one-hand it is a good place to be for work, kids and being safe. Just isn’t a fun place to be.
However what really bums me out is just wondering when things will get back to any semblance of the way they were before with travel, less masking and just not being worried all the time.
2022? One wonders…
2023? I hope!
