Has it *really* been a month?

The last time I sat down to write and research my book was a month ago.

I've been here before, but yet there's always a brief initial disbelief - "has it really been a month?"

A few thoughts:

  • Time passes more quickly than I realise
  • I will always be able to find an excuse not to do the work
  • Don't rely on 'tomorrow' - there's no guarantee that tomorrow will come
  • How badly do I really want this?
  • Why is this work important to me?
  • What am I struggling with?
  • Where do I need help and who can help me?
  • What am I taking for granted?

I can't see what the final 'product' looks like right now. I'm in this messy period of conflicting ideas, which is really just a perfectionist trap - I can't do the work because I don't know what 'done' looks like.

So, what's going to happen next is that I'm going to start writing without any expectation. I'm going to let myself become consumed by my thoughts and ideas, and I'm going to enjoy the time I have this morning to spend on this project.

Let's get to work :)
